Beginning therapy can be an intimidating experience, so it’s important to feel at ease with and supported by your provider. I believe that therapy should be a partnership based in trust, respect, compassion, and acceptance. Using a combination of strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches, I work to understand and empathize with each individual’s unique situation. I believe that everyone has the ability to grow, change, and heal, and I am committed to helping people navigate life’s challenges.
I have extensive experience working with traumatic issues, and with survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse in particular. I feel privileged to support and hold space for my clients as we work to explore the feelings of grief, anger, and loss that often accompany a traumatic experience. To help individuals process traumatic memories more effectively, I often utilize my training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR. I also tend to incorporate elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and other modalities into sessions as appropriate.
In addition to trauma work, I often meet with individuals experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, OCD, PTSD, fertility/perinatal concerns, and addiction. Some of my main clinical interests include emotion regulation and coping techniques, issues concerning identity formation/self-concept, non-suicidal self-injury and self-harm behaviors, and perinatal mental health and attachment. I see clients of a variety of ages, from children and adolescents to adults and seniors, and I am committed to supporting and celebrating the diversity and identity of all clients I meet with.
I am happy to be accepting new clients at this time, and I am currently licensed to practice in both Nebraska and Iowa. I am also currently able to offer both in-person and telehealth session options. Please feel free to call or email for more information or to set up an appointment – I’d love to get to know you!
